THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK (SUNY) AT BUFFALO
MASTER’S OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN MULTIDISCIPLINARY STUDIES
SUNY College at Buffalo is the largest comprehensive college in the SUNY system. Programs are offered at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and certificate of advanced study levels. The college opened its doors in 1871 and is known for its outstanding education programs, offering 35 graduate degree programs, two certificate of advanced study programs, and more than 70 undergraduate degree programs.
The Multidisciplinary Degree Program through SUNY College at Buffalo allows The Columbus School to develop a flexible master’s degree program that meets the professional and academic needs of our teachers and administrators. This program initiated during SY 1998-99 and was designed with input from the university and school. We are in our 10th academic year. To date we have had 77 graduates from the program, approximately 50% local and 50% import staff.

AVAILABILITY: A minimum of 20 students is required for each course. The program consists of 10 courses. Three/four courses are taught during each school year and the program can be completed in three school years. Traditionally courses have been offered at the beginning of semesters 1 & 2, and mid second semester. In order to obtain the Master’s degree it is important to follow the sequence of the courses offered in each cycle.
The continuance of the program depends upon sufficient demand. Priority is given to those staff members who intend to complete their Master’s. However, admission is permitted for those teachers whose goal is professional growth if space is available.
COST: The program is subsidized for Columbus School staff. Staff members pay:
- US $200.00 per course. Upon request the payment can be extended over a three-month period.
- A one-time registration fee of US $ 50.00 for graduate school admissions.
- Very moderate materials and textbooks fee for each course.
